Shepherd Valley Waldorf School located in Niwot, Colorado, offers a unique educational experience for children from pre-K to 8th grade that integrates art, academics and practical skill development along with outdoor activities on a spacious 38 acre campus. Our unique farm setting provides a "living laboratory" for a broad range of hands-on math, science, geography and history projects.

 

Assistant Teacher for our Combined First/Second Grade - Fall 2014. We are seeking a teacher for a half-year as a main lesson assistant for a combined first/second grade class. Responsibilities include the introduction of letters and numbers to the first-grade children. Elementary teaching experience is required, and Waldorf experience is ideal. There is the possibility of additional hours. The assistant will be mentored by and work closely with the first/second-grade class teacher.

 

Assistant Teacher for our Early Childhood program - Fall 2014. The Assistant Teacher will serve a class of up to 20 children three to six years of age under the direction of the Lead Teacher in our mixed-age kindergarten. The Early Childhood school day is from 8:10 am - 12:30 pm; the part-time Assistant Teacher’s day begins at 7:30 am. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, the day ends at approximately 1:15. The day ends at 3:00 and 4:00 respectively on Monday and Thursday for meetings. This position is paid hourly.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching in a Waldorf Early Childhood setting and has completed a portion of the Waldorf Early Childhood training at an accredited teacher training center. The school, located in Niwot, Colorado, midway between Boulder and Longmont, is set on a five-acre campus within 38 acres of agricultural-zoned land, with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains. This setting provides a wonderful rural atmosphere for festivals and community life, and contributes substantially to a rich curriculum supported by enthusiastic and experienced teachers, devoted, hard-working parents, and a healthy, energetic student body. Current programs include a parent-child class and pre-K through 8th Grade.

Games and Developmental Movement Teacher Opening - Fall 2014 Shepherd Valley Waldorf School, a Pre-K through 8th Grade independent school in Niwot, Colorado, is seeking a Games Teacher to join our Faculty. The position begins in the Fall of 2013 teaching games and developmental movement specific to the Waldorf curriculum in Grades Two through Eight.


The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for the importance of movement in education, have teaching experience in the field, and be open to working within the principles of Spacial Dynamics and Waldorf Education. The ideal candidate will also have experience teaching introductory sports skills and team games, as well as Pentathlon and Medieval Games preparation.


We are fortunate to have 33 acres of open space for our students to explore. Our Games and Movement facility is largely the open space, which includes a half-acre grassy playing field. Limited indoor facilities necessitate creativity regarding lesson planning during inclement weather.
The weekly schedule includes ten classes and a weekly Faculty Meeting. Participation in festivals and community events is also encouraged.
Pay starts at $25.63 per class.

Registrar and Assistant to the Administrator - August 1, 2014. Shepherd Valley Waldorf School, a Pre-K through 8th Grade independent school in Niwot, Colorado, is seeking an Office Assistant/Registrar to join our Staff. Responsibilities include:

1)Front desk/Information hub: phones, messages, welcome visitors, deliveries: basic receptionist duties that must be covered and that interrupt any other projects. Resource for admin, staff, parents, committees, etc. First aid, fire drills, etc.
2)Documents/graphics design support: directory, handbook, Star and Starlet, flyers, etc. Generate/maintain flyers and forms for Afterschool, attendance, camps, assemblies, festivals, etc.
3)Support for projects and mailings: mailings for committees/functions/events; support to administrator and office staff; projects for teachers (typing, copying, and research)
4)Maintain office equipment and supplies: copier, postage meter, paper and office supplies ordering, dealing with vendors. Minor general building and grounds maintenance.
5)Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors: Cleaning company, fire and health inspectors, William Scottsman, handymen, Nurse Consultant, Eldorado water, etc. Organize individual and class school photos, CPR/Pediatric First Aid, Permission to dispense medications classes. Assist with booking assemblies.
6)Database data entry and reports.
7)Assist with miscellaneous tasks as they surface.
8)Registrar function:

  1. New Enrollment: Manage the process from receipt of contract to enrollment. Preparing contract and reviewing for completion and accuracy of financial and other info; coordinating with Tuition Assistance Committee as needed; ensure that all necessary forms and info are completed as required by law and updated for our directory.
  2. Re-enrollment: Manage the routine aspects of re-enrollment. Turn over to Enrollment Coordinator any issues or concerns that emerge concerning a pending re-enrollment.
  3. File maintenance: Maintain student health files and academic records; employee files (fingerprinting, background checks)
