Sweet Pea Parent Child Program
![]() Overview The setting, a classroom on the Shepherd Valley Waldorf School campus, is warm, simple, and home-like. The rhythmic flow and creativity of the morning activities enhance the child’s mental, physical and emotional development. Over the course of the eight weeks, parents take part in simple crafts and work projects, as well as circle games and food preparation. The children see the adults engaged in meaningful activities, while parents have the opportunity to observe the children at play. A peaceful mood in the room allows children to relax and explore their environment, and touch in with mom or dad as the need arises. Parents will acquire practical tools to assist in the task of parenting. They will come away with creative ways to interact with and respond to their children based on a deeper understanding of child development. The morning circle activities include singing and storytelling, with emphasis on fine and gross motor movements. Each week parents will receive an article related to parenting or child development. Topics of interest (such as the importance of rhythm in the daily life of the child, creative play, nutrition, etc.) will be discussed the following week. Sign up for Sweet Pea by mailing/emailing the registration form, or complete it on-line. Payment can be paid on-line (below) or mailed in.
